Carrie Coon is setting the record straight after her recent comments sparked speculation about the nature of her marriage to actor and playwright Tracy Letts.
The buzz began after Coon appeared on the “WTF With Marc Maron” podcast, where her candid remarks about communication and openness in her relationship raised eyebrows. During the conversation, Coon described her marriage as one where the couple can “talk about everything,” including discussing their attractions.
“We’re not jealous people. Like, we don’t have any of those hang-ups,” Coon explained, emphasizing the trust and openness she shares with her husband. “So we never wanna be like, the police. You know? So it’s nice to be in a relationship where we can always talk about, like, ‘Who are you attracted to on set?’”
She also mentioned that Letts is “the kind of person who notices every single woman on the street,” adding that he openly shares his crushes with her. “It’s fun. It’s interesting to know what your partner’s into. I think it’s titillating,” she remarked.
During the interview, Coon also offered her perspective on monogamy, suggesting that the concept may not align with modern life as it once did.
“Monogamy is something we’ve imposed on ourselves,” she stated. “We were supposed to have babies and die when we were like 30. And that’s not the way life is anymore.”
She went on to advocate for keeping an open mind about relationships and personal desires. “You have to kinda be open-minded about what engages you in the world and what sparks your imagination and where your passion is. And I think if you’re willing to stay open to that, then you’re living a more full life,” she added.
Coon’s comments quickly fueled online speculation that she and Letts might be in an open marriage, leading her to address the rumors directly on X (formerly Twitter).
“Settle down, internet! I said ‘open-minded’ not ‘open’,” Coon quipped in a post, accompanied by a laughing emoji.
Her lighthearted clarification put the rumors to rest while reaffirming that while she and Letts maintain a transparent and communicative relationship, it is not an open one.
Beyond her personal life, Carrie Coon is making waves in the entertainment world. She currently stars in the highly anticipated third season of HBO’s hit drama “The White Lotus,” where her performance continues to garner critical acclaim.
With her no-nonsense attitude and willingness to speak candidly about relationships, Coon remains a refreshing voice in Hollywood—both on and off the screen.
